LSE Summer School Website

Reimagining Summer at LSE

Designing a refreshed digital experience for LSE Summer School to support recruitment, unify brand identity and elevate its global academic reputation.

The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is one of the world’s leading social science universities. Its Summer School offers an intensive academic programme that attracts students, professionals, and future leaders from around the globe. Known for its academic rigour and international community, LSE Summer School plays a critical role in broadening the institution’s global engagement and brand footprint.

The Challenge: Aligning Brand, Experience and Recruitment

LSE Summer School needed a new website to better represent its unique proposition within the university’s growing digital ecosystem. As part of a broader microsite transformation, the challenge was to design a platform that not only aligned with the wider LSE brand architecture but also delivered a distinct identity for Summer School. The site had to serve as a key recruitment tool for 2023, aimed at returning enrolment numbers to pre-pandemic levels while providing a seamless user experience.

Our Strategy: Design-Led, Brand-Focused and Scalable

We worked in close collaboration with the LSE Summer School team to shape a visual concept that would bring clarity, energy and relevance to the new website. Our approach was rooted in user-first thinking, ensuring the site would inspire prospective students while honouring existing system architecture and technical integrations. We focused on modular, adaptable design components that supported consistency and flexibility, presenting three tailored options per element to empower client choice and ensure the site reflected the personality of Summer School.

The Solution: A Confident New Identity in Digital Form

The result was a clear, confident and cohesive visual design system, delivered through Figma and ready for integration with Contensis by the build partner Zengenti. The new concept gives LSE Summer School its own voice and presence within the broader LSE digital landscape, balancing strong alignment with the core university brand while expressing its unique academic and cultural offer. With design flexibility built in and backend integrations accounted for, the site is now positioned to drive recruitment and engagement for a global student audience.
